Acceptable Use Policy.

This Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”) applies to every law firm, attorney, paralegal, intake specialist, administrator, contractor, and any other authorized user (collectively, “Users”) accessing Lexboard. The customer firm is responsible for ensuring every User under its account complies with this AUP. Violations by one User may result in suspension of the entire firm account.

This AUP supplements, and is incorporated by reference into, our Terms of Service. Capitalized terms not defined here have the meaning given to them in the Terms.

You may not upload, store, transmit, or generate any content that:

• Is unlawful, fraudulent, threatening, harassing, defamatory, or invasive of another's privacy.
• Infringes intellectual property, publicity rights, or other rights of any party.
• Contains viruses, worms, trojans, ransomware, or any other malicious code.
• Contains child sexual abuse material (“CSAM”) or sexual content of any kind involving minors.
• Promotes terrorism, violent extremism, or organized criminal activity.
• Is collected or used in violation of a third party's privacy rights or applicable data-protection law (GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, FERPA, GLBA, COPPA).

You may not use Lexboard to:

• Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the platform without our prior written authorization (see Section 9).
• Breach or circumvent authentication, RLS policies, rate limits, or any other security mechanism.
• Access an account, case, document, or data that does not belong to your firm.
• Decompile, reverse-engineer, scrape, or otherwise attempt to derive the underlying source code or models.
• Resell, sublicense, rent, lease, or commercially exploit access to the platform without our prior written authorization.
• Use the platform to send unsolicited bulk email, SMS, or other communications (“spam”).
• Use the platform in connection with the unauthorized practice of law in any jurisdiction.
• Submit content on behalf of someone who has not consented to such submission (e.g., uploading another firm's client documents without authorization).
• Falsely impersonate any person, firm, or government agency.
• Train any machine-learning model on data extracted from another firm's account.

Lexboard offers AI-assistive features (intake scoring, demand-letter drafting, deposition chat, document chronologies, etc.). You agree:

• To treat all AI-generated content as drafts requiring attorney review before client communication, filing, or other privileged use.
• Not to represent AI-generated content to clients, courts, or third parties as the work product of a licensed attorney without independent review and attestation.
• Not to use the AI features to provide legal advice to non-clients or members of the public.
• Not to feed material into AI features that you are contractually or ethically prohibited from disclosing to a third-party processor (consult counsel if uncertain).

Lexboard provides infrastructure designed to support compliance with the ABA Model Rules of Professional Conduct and common state variants (see our Bar-Rule Compliance page). The customer firm remains the licensed professional and is solely responsible for compliance with its applicable bar's rules, including:

• Confidentiality (Rule 1.6) — how the firm uses or shares case data is the firm's decision.
• Trust accounting (Rule 1.15) — the firm books the trust deposit; Lexboard records the Stripe transaction but does not auto-post.
• Conflicts of interest (Rules 1.7–1.18) — Lexboard's conflict-check tool surfaces matches; resolution is the firm's decision.
• Communications about services (Rule 7.1) — AI-drafted messages require attorney review before send.

The client portal lets a firm's clients view their own case, upload documents, exchange messages, and sign electronically. By enabling the client portal for a case, the firm warrants that:

• The client has been informed about the existence of the portal and how their data is processed.
• The firm has obtained any consents required by its bar rules or by federal/state law to share documents electronically.
• The firm will deactivate the portal session promptly upon termination of the engagement.

Information you encounter through your use of Lexboard — including another firm's public-facing materials accessible through shared templates, public bar-rule disclosures, etc. — must be treated as confidential or used only for purposes consistent with this AUP. You may not redistribute platform-internal communications, support exchanges, or feature roadmaps outside your firm.

Lexboard meters AI calls, template generations, document uploads, and email sends to prevent runaway cost and abuse. Abnormal traffic patterns may trigger automatic rate limiting (HTTP 429 responses). You agree not to circumvent rate limits or to coordinate excessive automated use that degrades the platform for other customers.

If you discover a security vulnerability, please report it to security@lexboard.net rather than exploiting it. We commit to acknowledging the report within two business days. Good-faith security research does not violate this AUP provided the researcher (a) acts only against test accounts, (b) does not exfiltrate real customer data, (c) does not disrupt service for other customers, and (d) gives us a reasonable disclosure window before publishing details.

We may suspend or terminate any account or User found to be in material violation of this AUP, with or without prior notice if the violation poses ongoing risk to other customers, to the platform, or to applicable law. Where appropriate we may also:

• Remove the offending content.
• Notify law enforcement.
• Report ethical violations to the relevant state bar.
• Pursue civil remedies for damages.

We may update this AUP as the platform evolves and as legal requirements change. Material updates will be announced in-app and by email to firm administrators at least 30 days before taking effect, except where a shorter notice is required by law or to address an imminent security risk.
